Working Together

Parents and carers are the first educators of children, and the nursery aims to support their essential work. The nursery will help parents and carers by ensuring they are:

  • Aware of the nursery's policies and procedures
  • Regularly informed about their child's progress through consultation days
  • Involved in shared child record keeping, either formally or informally
  • Fully informed about meetings and workshops planned in the nursery
  • Welcome to provide any kind of contribution
  • Aware of the systems for registering queries, complaints, or suggestions
  • Aware of opportunities to learn about the nursery curriculum and about children's learning, both in the nursery and how they can share learning at home

Information Sharing

The nursery encourages parents and carers to be involved in the development of their child through a full exchange of information. Parents and carers have access to all information about their child held by the nursery, subject to the safeguarding of all children.

Our staff understand the importance and are aware of the need to keep privacy and confidentiality between parents and carers and the nursery.

Children's work and photos taken while participating in activities are displayed. Children's work is shared with parents and carers and all children have an individual learning journey. Any such photos are safeguarded; see the safeguarding addendum document.

Child Collection

Children will only be released from our care to individuals named by the parents and carers. The nursery further enforces this by recording and communicating any changes and informing the relevant staff members.

How We Work With Parents

Staff work alongside parents and carers as partners and provide support at all times, in the following ways:

Parent/Carer Consultations

Held to discuss the child's progress and any concerns.

Tapestry Progress Reports

Completed by the child's key person and work on children's next steps.

Children Transition Reports

Given when leaving to attend school/nursery school, and show child progress in line with the EYFS statutory framework. All reports will be kept confidential and parents' signatures will be obtained before sending their child's report to school.

Appointments

Available for parents and carers to express any concerns about their child. Further meetings will be held until any concern has been dealt with.

Observation

Staff will observe all the children using Tapestry in conjunction with the parents/guardians. This enables us to monitor children's needs and progress on an individual basis, in conjunction with the SEN Code of Practice. If a concern is highlighted, the parents/carers will be informed.

Daily Feedback

Each parent or carer is given verbal feedback each day on collection of their child.
