1. Are the Nursery Staff qualified?
Our Nursery Staff hold NNEB Diploma, NVQ 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development, Children and Young People Workforce (CYPW) Level 2 and 3, Degree etc.  On occasions we provide placements for Trainee Teachers and Nursery Nurses from local Universities and Colleges.  In line with the settings Safeguarding policy all individuals have a current DBS, are fully supervised and monitored by senior staff and never left alone with children.

2. Is there a routine at the Nursery?
We do have a routine within the Nursery, although it is very flexible!  When children are in Pre-school we aim to provide a more structured routine in order to prepare them for school readiness.

3. Do you provide balanced meals, and can you cater for cultural or special dietary requirements?
Our meals are both varied and balanced, incorporating significant amounts of vegetables and fruit. We take into account individual dietary requirements due to allergies, food sensitivities, lactose and gluten intolerances, etc.

4. Can my child bring his/her comforter into the Nursery?
We want the transition from home to nursery to be as easy as possible for your child, so if your child has a special comforter or soother we are happy to welcome it into the Nursery too.

5. What if my child is ill or has an accident whilst at the Nursery?
If your child becomes ill whilst in our care, we will try to contact you immediately.  If we cannot contact you, we will try to contact your next choice on your child's emergency contact form (you fill this in prior to your child-starting nursery).  If your child has an accident we follow the same guidelines, however if we feel that it is serious we will take your child to the nearest hospital.

6. I’m concerned about the safety of my child, how will I know he/she is secure at the Nursery?
Access to the Nursery is strictly controlled via an electronic entry system and numerical door locks. CCTV monitors the front, reception and rear of the Nursery. Two eight-feet steel gates prevent access to the rear of the building.

7. What are your opening hours?
The Nursery is open daily from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. We are open all year round, excluding bank holidays, Christmas day and Boxing Day.

8. What are the childcare fees?
We aim to provide a high quality childcare service at an affordable price, and this is reflected in our fees. Our fees are in the prospectus which can be obtained by contacting the nursery. Please remember that the nursery fees are due monthly in advance.

9. Can you help my child with toilet training?
This can be a daunting time for parents. Each child is encouraged to develop independence and is noted in their daily diaries, so that you can see how they are doing. We are always here to help should you need any advice.

10. What sort of activities will my child be involved in?
Our nursery nurses arrange daily activities in order to help your child's development. We strongly believe that children extend their learning and understanding through play, and this will be a vital part of your child's day.

11. I want to return to work, but I am very worried at leaving my young baby?
We understand that it is an emotional time when leaving your baby for the first few weeks. The Nursery aims to deliver care to a very high standard, in a warm, caring and relaxed atmosphere, and our staff will care for your child exactly as you would expect.

12. Do I need to provide anything for my child whilst at the Nursery?
We ask you to bring a bag with a spare change of clothes (extra pants if toilet training is applicable).

13. How will I know how about my child's progress?
We hold parents evenings twice per year, and you will be invited to make an appointment with your child's key person to discuss progress.  This is also an excellent opportunity to discuss any queries you may have.

If you would like to speak to your child's key person or nursery manager at any other time, just ask, we are always happy to help.  Individual appointments are available if so required.  You will always receive daily feedback on your child's day at nursery.

14. How do I book my child's place?
To reserve a place at Dickory Docks Nursery you will need to fill in the forms available with the Nursery Pack. Or, alternatively, just pop in to the Nursery to discuss your childcare requirements.
